Mealime closes October 21. Bring your dinners with you.

Mealime deletes your account data when it closes, and it hasn’t offered a way to export your recipes. Your favorites, your own recipes, and your notes go with it unless you save them first. Here’s what to save this week, and where Tablekin fits.

Tablekin isn’t affiliated with Mealime or Albertsons Companies. Dates and details are from Mealime’s announcement.

Before Oct 21

Takes about 20 minutes
  1. 1Copy your favorite recipe linksMealime’s recipe pages are public, for now
  2. 2Screenshot your own recipesRecipes you created aren’t on public pages
  3. 3Note your diet settingsAllergies, dislikes, and serving sizes
  4. 4Save this week’s plan and listA screenshot is enough

After October 21, anything you didn’t save is gone.

How to save what matters

You don’t need any special tools. A notes app and your phone’s screenshot button cover it.

  1. Recipe links

Open each Mealime recipe you cook, tap share, and paste the link into a note. These pages are public today, but Mealime says its recipes are moving to Meals Hub, so don’t count on the links lasting.

  2. Your own recipes and notes

Recipes you wrote and notes you added live only in your account. Screenshot every screen of each one, including the ingredients and steps.

  3. The settings you tuned

Write down your household’s allergies, foods you skip, and how many servings you usually cook. These take years to get right and are the easiest thing to forget.

Bringing them into Tablekin

Mealime never offered an export, so no app can import from it directly. Tablekin is built to take what you saved.

Paste your links

Paste a recipe link, or a whole note full of them, and Tablekin brings in each recipe’s ingredients, steps, times, and photo.

Choose your screenshots

Pick the screenshots of a recipe, in order, and your phone reads them; nothing is uploaded to read them. Check what it found, and save. Or hand them to Claude and say “add these recipes to Tablekin.”

Or paste the text

Copied a recipe into a note? Paste it in. Tablekin sorts it into the name, ingredients, and steps, and keeps anything it can’t place as notes.

And it stays yours

Export every recipe anytime, as one file you can read anywhere and bring back in. If Tablekin ever closed, you’d leave with your recipes. You shouldn’t have to go through this twice.

Should you just use Meals Hub?

Maybe. Mealime is pointing everyone to Meals Hub, a free feature inside the Albertsons Companies grocery apps (Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, and their sister stores). Mealime says all of its recipes will be there.

Meals Hub is a good fit if

You already shop at an Albertsons Companies store, you mostly cooked Mealime’s own recipes, and you’re happy planning inside your grocery store’s app.

Tablekin is a good fit if

You shop anywhere else, or at more than one store, you want your own recipes at the center, or you want the whole household on one shared plan and list.

Questions

Is Tablekin available now?

Not yet: it’s almost ready for the App Store. Leave your email below and we’ll send one note the day it’s out. Save your recipes now, and they’ll be ready to bring in.

Can you import straight from my Mealime account?

No. Mealime hasn’t offered an export, so there’s no file for any app to import. That’s why saving links and screenshots before October 21 matters.

Do I have to use Claude?

No. Links, screenshots, and pasted text all come in through the app on its own, and the planner and the shared list work without Claude. Claude makes weekly planning faster.

What does it cost?

There’s a free plan with up to 25 recipes. Tablekin Household is $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, and one subscription covers everyone in your household. In our first year, the yearly plan starts with 3 months free.

What happens to my Mealime Pro subscription?

Mealime says Pro subscribers won’t be charged again before it closes, and Pro features are free for everyone until then, so there’s nothing to cancel. See Mealime’s announcement.
